Voluntary Bodies and Organisations

The following voluntary bodies provide a range of free services which may be accessed via their websites.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Addaction

Addaction run a free and completely confidential service to treat people with drug and alcohol problems.

Alcohol Concern

Alcohol Concern exists to reduce the negative impact alcohol can have on communities, families and individuals.

Brake

The road safety charity. Brake works for zero deaths on roads, including those caused by drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Road crashes are not road accidents. They are preventable and must be stopped.

DrugScope

DrugScope is the UK’s leading independent centre of information and expertise on drugs and the national membership organisation for the drug field. Their aim is to inform policy development and reduce drug-related harms – to individuals, families and communities.

Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Gamblers Anonymous

Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who have joined together to do something about their own gambling problem and to help other compulsive gamblers do the same.

Samaritans

Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide.

Macmillan Cancer Relief

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. Cancer affects us all. We can all help.
 

Domestic Abuse Support

Information and links to other organisations to provide support and advice for anyone suffering domestic abuse.

Cruse Bereavement Care

A voluntary organisation to help the bereaved after the death of a loved one. Help and advice on a range of issues is available over the phone or internet.
